Zennor Blue Bus

Zennor Public Transport

Zennor does have some public transport services, although no heliport, airstrip or railway! However, you may be surprised to learn that, in the 1870s, there was a plan to extend Brunel’s Great Western Railway from Paddington to Penzance all the way to St Just – via Zennor!  The plans are in the Morrab Library in Penzance to prove it.

For the last years a local operator, Sunset Coaches, has run our bus service.  The fleet of little blue buses gave way to the green livery of Western Greyhound at the end of June 2007.  Two services, the 507 and 508  travel the route between St Ives and Penzance via Zennor six days a week.  The  timetables for 2010 is found below.

Although there are only two official bus stops, one by the bridge in Zennor village and one at the Gurnards Head, the bus will stop for you if you signal clearly at a place along the roadside where it is safe for the driver to stop, e.g. not on bends.  Please note that these services do not run on Sundays or Bank Holidays.  However, in the summer, First Company runs the 300 bus every day. This service travels the coast road, the B3306, between St Ives and Lands End.  In good weather, an open-top double-decker is used, which makes for a scenic and exhilarating journey. Take a raincoat and a comb!
